GIBB is Saying YES to Skills Development

The GIBB Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme is a business-led collaboration with the government. This initiative seeks to reduce youth unemployment across private and public sectors. The aim is to:

  • Enable more youth skills development.
  • Offer meaningful workplace experience.
  • Provide a salary.  

This should significantly improve the chances of finding long-term employment.

Engineering is the backbone and the driving force of change on the continent. GIBB is at the forefront of helping Africa succeed. It is a proudly 67% black-owned multidisciplinary engineering company with a wide geographical footprint, which makes it an active African infrastructure solutions provider. Since GIBB began in 1956 (65 years), it has remained a leading provider of infrastructure planning, design, and delivery in South Africa

GIBB, as a proud South African Corporation, is deeply committed to the future growth, industry skills development, empowerment, social investment, and poverty elimination of the youth. It is a team with the motto: “WE CHANGE LIVES”. GIBB is committed to supporting efforts aimed at building a better South African economy by supporting the YES Programme.

This article will guide any interested candidate through the application process.

Skills Development

Minimum Requirements for the GIBB Skills Development YES Programme

To qualify for this wonderful skills development opportunity at GIBB, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent with Mathematics, Science, and English.
  • National Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial.
  • You are a South African Citizen (must be born in South Africa).
  • You are aged between 18 and 28 years of age.
  • You are unemployed and available to be employed on a 12-month Fixed-Term contract.
  • You are not a previous YES beneficiary.
  • You are computer literate.
  • You want to learn new skills related to the Engineering and Architectural Industry.
  • You are a responsible and honest person.

This opportunity is open to all South African young people. Disabled youth are also welcome to apply (Please mention your disability when you apply).

How to Apply for the GIBB YES Skills Development Programme

Applicants will go through a recruitment process, and if successful, be placed in various companies/locations in the GIBB Group as indicated below:

  • Power – Johannesburg
  • Mining – Johannesburg
