A new era is set to begin for Bafana Bafana as the South African Football Association (SAFA) has officially announced a new technical sponsor, marking the end of its partnership with Le Coq Sportif after the Africa Cup of Nations.
Adidas Returns to the National Team
Global sportswear giant adidas has signed a three-year deal to become the official technical sponsor of South Africa’s national teams. This marks a significant reunion, as adidas previously partnered with Bafana Bafana during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Their return aligns perfectly with the team’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
A Partnership Built on Shared Values
In a statement, SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao expressed excitement about the renewed partnership:
“This partnership is more than a sponsorship – it’s a return to shared values of pride, resilience, and performance. adidas has long been part of our football story, and together we’ll inspire South Africans everywhere to believe that they’ve got what it takes.
This return also marks the strengthening of our standing among the global football nations community as we compete at FIFA and CAF tournaments regularly, supported by a brand that invests in innovation, performance and style to meet the needs of a modern sports organisation like us.”
New Era of Style and Performance
Starting March 2026, Bafana Bafana and other national teams will wear new adidas kits. The partnership will cover match-day kits, training and pre-match gear, travel wear, and fan collections, ensuring a fresh and modern look on and off the field.
SAFA – A Step Forward
With adidas back on board, SAFA strengthens its global football identity. This collaboration is more than just a change in kit; it symbolizes ambition, growth, and a shared vision to make South Africa competitive on the world stage once again.
