Eskom has confirmed that its weekly load reduction programme will continue across Gauteng this week, leaving many households and businesses facing lengthy power cuts. The planned outages will run from Monday, 8 September, until Sunday, 14 September 2025, and are expected to last five to six hours depending on the area.
Power Cuts Hit Gauteng Residents and Businesses
The utility has warned that the schedule will impact different areas at different times, with some experiencing morning outages between 5am and 9am, while others will face evening blackouts from 5pm to 10pm. Eskom said the rotational system allows residents to anticipate when their areas will be affected, even though the disruptions remain challenging for daily life.
Areas Affected by Load Reduction
According to the official schedule, morning load reduction will affect places such as:
- Dobsonville
- Naledi
- Wattville
- Etwatwa
- Mathibestad
- Sebokeng
- Beverly Hills East
- Boitumelo
- Evaton and surrounding settlements
In the evenings, power cuts will hit areas including:
- Mabopane
- Rabie Ridge
- Duduza
- Protea Glen
- Westonaria
- Vereeniging Sharpville
- Daveyton
- Orange Farm and various extensions
