Job Purpose

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As a General Worker at Temba Water Depot, you’ll be responsible for several crucial tasks to ensure the water distribution network runs smoothly. Key duties include:

1. General Maintenance and Housekeeping

Perform cleaning and maintenance of offices, facilities, terrain, vehicles, and equipment.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

2. Excavation and Repair Support

Assist with digging and clearing trenches using tools like shovels, pickaxes, rakes, and rammers.
Provide support in repairing leaking pipes, including backfilling and removing excess materials from the site.

3. Materials Handling

Sort, load, unload, move, and store materials, equipment, supplies, and other items by hand when necessary.

4. Machinery Operation and Site Clean-up

Operate water pumps and assist in cleaning machinery and tools.
Remove obstructions and ensure a clean, organized workspace after completing tasks.
