Tambo International Airport to Perth, re-establishing a vital connection between South Africa and Australia. This direct route marks a significant step forward for SAA as it resumes international expansion and strengthens its position as a key long-haul carrier for the African continent.

The inaugural flight departed Johannesburg at 8:55 PM local time and arrived in Perth at 12:20 PM the following day. The return flight, SA281, departed Perth at 11:50 PM and landed in Johannesburg at 4:45 AM the next day (all times local). SAA will operate this route with modern, wide-body aircraft, ensuring a comfortable and convenient travel experience for passengers on flights SA 280 and SA 281.
