    Heatwave Warning: Eastern Cape

Residents in the northern and eastern parts of the Eastern Cape are advised to brace for persistently high temperatures as a heatwave grips the region. This extreme heat is expected to last until Monday, creating uncomfortable and potentially dangerous conditions.

Tips to Cope with the Heat:

    • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
    • Avoid Peak Sun Hours: Limit outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
    • Wear Sun Protection: Use sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from harmful UV rays.
    • Keep Indoors Cool: Use fans, air conditioning, or keep windows open for ventilation.

Fire Danger Warnings: Northern Cape and Free State

SAWS has issued extreme fire danger warnings for central parts of the Northern Cape and Free State. The dry and windy conditions increase the risk of veld fires, which could spread rapidly.
