    Requirements

    • Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e., degree/diploma in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
    • Required post-basic nursing qualification: A post-basic nursing qualification, with a duration of at least 1 year, accredited with the SANC in one of the specialties indicated above.
    • Experience: A minimum of 9 years of appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
    • Specialty experience: At least 5 years of the period mentioned above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in the relevant specialty.
    • Management experience: At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience at a management level.
    • Computer literacy: Will be an added advantage.

    • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and their impact on service delivery.
    • Ensure clinical nursing practice by the nursing team (unit) adheres to the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the relevant health facility.
    • Promote the quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards as determined by the relevant health facility.
    • Demonstrate a basic understanding of Human Resource and financial policies and practices.
    • Display basic computer literacy as a tool to enhance service delivery.
    • Capable of generating both written and electronic reports.
    • Ability to create personal work plans and those for junior colleagues.
